Mrs. Mead offers remarks at the grand opening of the UW Literacy Research Center and Clinic in Laramie.

First Lady Mead partnered with the University of Wyoming Foundation and College of Education to establish a statewide literacy research center and clinic. The LRCC will serve as the literacy hub in Wyoming, offering diagnostics and tutoring for students struggling to read, professional development for teachers, educational opportunities for pre-service teachers and graduate students, and cutting-edge literacy research. Resources will be offered through distance technology to locations throughout Wyoming and beyond. Many generous donors, including Donne and Sue Fisher, have helped the LRCC vision become a reality. The LRCC opened its doors in March 2014. Mrs. Mead now co-chairs the LRCC Outreach and Advisory Board.
