Governor Mead’s Statement on the Passing of Martha Hansen

“My grandmother, Martha Hansen, passed away early this morning at her home on our family ranch in Jackson. My family has been blessed by the compassion of her caregivers in the last years of her long, rich life and the love and support given her by people from all across Wyoming.

“A frontier wife who became First Lady, my grandmother had a quiet grace that was a defining attribute of her life. She touched many, as a mother, friend, and ambassador for the state she loved. Whatever her role, she was unfailingly kind and gracious and she leaves my family both a legacy and a lesson in the resilient strength of a kind heart.”

Martha Hansen was 97. Funeral arrangements are pending.
