Governor Matt Mead released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives’ vote on H.R. 3409, also known as the Stop The War On Coal Act:

“Coal provides over 35% of America’s electricity, provides great jobs and is a source of reliable, low-cost electricity that can fuel our economic recovery. Recent federal rules and regulations targeting the coal industry are unreasonable and unachievable. The coal industry must be profitable to advance new technologies.  Researchers and industry need certainty before they invest time and money developing innovations in carbon capture, storage and use. I appreciate the House Republicans and the Wyoming’s Congressional Delegation recognition of coal’s importance to our nation.”
