Governor Thanks Director of Water Development Office for Service, Search for Replacement Begins
CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Governor Matt Mead extended his appreciation to Mike Purcell for his many years of service to the State of Wyoming. Purcell is retiring on July 6th. He served as Director of the Wyoming Water Development Office from 1983 to 1996 and returned to the position in 2007.
“Mike committed his expertise and talent to water projects and his efforts will have a lasting impact across Wyoming,” Governor Mead said. “I join a long line of Governors in thanking Mike for his service.”
Purcell served under five governors. He expressed appreciation for the support of past and present governors, legislators and commissioners. “Serving as Director was a dream job for an engineer. I was able to work on dams, major regional water projects, and municipal and irrigation water supply projects,” Purcell said.
Governor Mead has asked those interested in the position to submit a letter of interest and a resume to Governor Matt Mead, 200 West 24th Street, Cheyenne, WY 82002. The deadline to apply is June 11, 2012.
