Governor Appoints New Circuit Court Judge for Sweetwater County

CHEYENNE, Wyo. –  Governor Matt Mead has selected John Prokos as the new Circuit Court Judge for the Third Judicial District in Sweetwater County. Prokos will fill the seat vacated by Judge Victoria Schofield who has retired.

Prokos is currently the Deputy County Attorney in Sweetwater County. He has also worked in private practice and as an assistant public defender. Prokos has an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and a law degree from Valparaiso University.

“John knows the Wyoming legal system well. He has worked in several communities in Wyoming and in a variety of capacities as an attorney. His breadth of experience including his extensive trial work, will serve the people of Sweetwater County well,” Governor Mead said.

“It is a humbling experience to be appointed to the bench. I gratefully accept Governor Mead’s appointment and appreciate those who have graciously supported me in this endeavor,” Prokos said.
