Governor Welcomes Back Furloughed Employees

CHEYENNE, Wyo. –  After the President signed the bill to end the partial federal government shutdown last night, Governor Matt Mead directed Wyoming’s state agencies with furloughed employees to ask those men and women to return to work as soon as possible.

A total of 239 state employees were on a partial or full furlough. The impacted agencies were the Department of Environmental Quality, Department of Workforce Services, Military Department and Department of Family Services. The furloughs affected employees with positions that are funded in whole or in part with federal funds that ceased to be available as a result of the federal shutdown.

The Governor authorized employees to use accrued annual leave, if they chose to use it. They were also eligible for unemployment insurance.
