Governor Mead issued the following statement on the new setback rule approved by the Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission.

“The new setback rule is a compromise that balances homeowners’ and other surface owners’ rights with the rights of the mineral producers. The rule increases the well setback distance from 350 feet to 500 feet from a home or other building. It also requires more communication between the operator and homeowner before drilling begins. This rule is good for Wyoming.”
