First Lady Mead and University of Wyoming Literacy Research Center and Clinic 
Announce Recipient of the First Lady’s Leaders in Literacy Award

CHEYENNE WY – First Lady Carol Mead and the University of Wyoming Literacy Research Center and Clinic (LRCC) announced today that the Teton Literacy Center is the recipient of the inaugural First Lady’s Leaders in Literacy Award. First Lady Mead and the LRCC established the award to recognize a Wyoming citizen, organization, community, or business that has made significant contributions to advancing literacy within Wyoming.

“We received nominations from all over the state acknowledging the innovative and impactful efforts of a myriad of groups and individuals working to promote literacy in our state,” said Mrs. Mead. “Our selection committee was impressed and inspired by the caliber of work being done.”

The Teton Literacy Center will be honored at the Wyoming Business Forum luncheon on November 10 in Cheyenne and will receive a $4,000 award.

The mission of the Teton Literacy Center is to change lives through the power of literacy in its community. The TLC focuses on family literacy through prevention, intervention, and environment programs.
